Health Insurance Coverage for Adult Children to age 30 Act 4 of 2009 (Senate Bill 189), which was signed into law by
Governor Edward G. Rendell on June 10, 2009, expands health
insurance coverage for children of insured parents. It allows
adults up to age 30, under certain conditions, to remain covered

Mini-COBRA bill passed in Pennsylvania On June 10, 2009, Governor Edward G. Rendell signed Act 2 of 2009 to help address the growing need to extend health care options for those newly unemployed.
In effect July 10, 2009, Employees laid off by small employers (2-19) are now eligible for state Mini-COBRA benefits.

American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) On February 17, 2009 President Obama signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act into law. In an effort to make healthcare more affordable to those suffering from job loss, there are provisions in the ARRA that will provide premium assistance to employees (and their families) for COBRA for a period of 9 months.
The Act provides federal assistance for payment of COBRA premiums to employees and covered family members with adjusted gross incomes below a maximum threshold who lost or will lose coverage due to involuntary termination of employment from September 01, 2008 through 2009.
