Employers that maintain group health plans in states that provide Medicaid or SCHIP assistance in the form of premium assistance subsidies are required to give written notice to their employees, informing them of the potential opportunities for premium assistance currently available in the state in which they reside to help them pay for group health coverage. The Employer CHIP Notice is required to be provided automatically on an annual basis. |

One of the basic requirements of Federal COBRA is the requirement to provide an initial notice to covered employees and covered spouses. The initial notice must be furnished by the Employer to the covered employee and spouse when plan coverage first begins.
